https://v.idtech.space/c/openkatana/videos Videos from my time doing OpenKatana development. I own the rights to these videos. OpenKatana was not my project, I helped out hogsy under the OldTimes Software label. Initially I offered to make models on the inside3d forums. Then I started to take on more duties, like QuakeC programming. Eventually the remaining team wanted to take it into a different direction, away from the source material. We got John Romero's approval and access to not just his development files to the game but also access to his knowledge. The engine we built was FitzQuake derived. Originally the intent was to load the original alpha formats as-is, and to supplement the custom ones with more community friendly ones. While I was there we used md2 as the model format of choice. The bsp format was just modified Q1 BSP, using Havoc's hmap compiler as a basis.
